TURKISH AIRLINES NOW CONNECTS KOŠICE WITH THE WORLD

Eastern Slovakia and surrounding regions now have access to global network of Turkish Airlines.

 

Košice, 16th June 2016
 

Turkish Airlines, Europe’s Best Airline (according to Skytrax Survey, 2015), flying to more countries than any other airline, today inaugurated the flight connection Istanbul – Košice. The flights on this route will be operated three times per week: every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with departure from Košice at 10:05 in the morning and arrival to Istanbul at 13:05. Turkish Airlines will deploy various aircraft types on the route (Boeing 737-800, Airbus A319, Airbus A320), based on the demand. 

Ziya Taskent, Sales president of Turkish Airlines on today´s press conference said: “There was a white spot on the map of Turkish Airlines around this area and after our research we have made a decision for Košice. We hope that it will work and that all of us will be satisfied.”

The first Airbus A319 of Turkish Airlines was welcomed in Košice by a spectacular water canon salute, courtesy of Košice International Airport´s Fire & Rescue Team. The Starr Alliance member flies to more than 285 destinations worldwide and a great deal of them will be available within convenient transfer times in Istanbul.

Today is a great day for Košice International Airport and for whole region, as we have welcomed the first truly global carrier in Slovakia. Passengers from our wide catchment area now can widen their world and explore a bunch of destinations in America, Asia and Africa with departure from Košice and comfortable transfer in Istanbul.”

Richard Raši, Mayor of Košice: “It is a great success for Košice and whole region of Eastern Slovakia that such a strong air carrier as Turkish Airlines with enormous offer of destinations today started to fly to Košice. For people from Eastern Slovakia it no longer makes sense to travel to Budapest because they can enjoy the comfort of departure from Košice to almost 300 destinations all over the world.
