Ryanair, the largest European airline, opens another air service from Košice. From the 3rd August 2020 it will fly on the route Košice – Prague. The connection will be operated twice a week on Monday and Friday, with departure from Prague at 12:35 and arrival in Košice at 13:55. Departures from Košice are planned for 14:20 and arrivals in Prague then at 15:35. The flights will be operated by Ryanair´s Boeing 737-800 with capacity 189 seats.  

One-way fares start from 30,72 EUR and they are already available at www.ryanair.com. 

Michael Tmej, the CEO and chairman of the management board of Košice Airport said: “We are pleased that our commercial activities deliver results also in these difficult times related to the consequences of the pandemic. Ryanair flying from Košice to Prague in a couple of weeks’ time is a great news for a great deal of Slovaks that study or work in Prague and so far they had to use trains or buses to commute there from Košice. In addition, with this lowcost route Košice and the whole Eastern Slovakia is now a much closer and more attractive destination for the Czech tours.” 

It is expected that in summer Ryanair will restart its connection to London, as the tickets on the Košice – London Stansted route are already on sale. The exact date of the restart depends also on the decision of the Slovak government about approval for direct flights from Great Britain to Slovakia.  

After the measures taken to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 were lifted, Czech Airlines and Austrian Airlines have already restarted their flight operations at Košice Airport. Restart of flights operated by the other airlines is subject to a decision of a respective airlines and also of the Slovak government.  

The rules for wearing the facemasks at all times onboard are valid for all airlines. Košice Airport recommends to check the detailed rules and recommendations of a particular airline before the flight on the airline´s website and also on the website of Košice Airport.  

In relation to summer charter season 2020 it is expected that it will be possible to fly from Košice to holiday destinations in Bulgaria, Greece and Cyprus with flights operated by Smartwings and Bulgaria Air. Flights to destinations in other countries are subject to approval of Slovak government. More information shall be available in the beginning of July.
