It's confirmed: 2024 is another record year for Košice Airport. Today, the 700,000th passenger passed through the airport gates. The previous record for the number of passengers handled was set last year in 2023, with just over 625,000 passengers. Thus, Košice Airport confirms the long-term trend of a significant increase in demand for air travel. Also, Košice Airport is at the moment 30 % above the traffic of 2019, while, according to data from ACI Europe, European airports with less than 1 million have achieved only 68 % of the pre-pandemic traffic so far.

The 700,000th passenger was Nadine from Austria, who flew on board of Swiss International Airlines back to Zurich from her business trip in Kechnec.

Thomas Dworschak, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Košice Airport, said: “It's very exciting to welcome the 700,000th passenger at our airport today. I thank all passengers flying from Košice, the entire airport staff team, and of course our partners from the airlines, especially Swiss International Air Lines. Their new route to Zurich has been very successful from its launch this March and we´re delighted to see the growth of capacity confirmed for next summer season.”
