Growing demand for travelling for summer holiday by plane was confirmed by the most successful and at the same time the longest charter season in airport´s history. 

During the summer season of 2018 Košice Airport handled 591 charter flights to 19 destinations in 10 countries. The first flight departed on 25th of May to Hurgada and the last one arrived on 3th of November from Hurgada.

The number of charter passengers  this year was 170 431 passangers and compared to previous summer season was increased by 38,6 %. The most demanded destination was Antalya with close to 44 990 passengers, followed by Burgas with 28 440 passengers and Hurgada with almost 15 508 passengers.

From January to October 2018 Košice Airport welcomed  482 329 passengers which is 48 012 passengers more than in the same period of 2017, representing an annual increase of 11,1 %.  Aircraft movements from January to October increased by 44,1 % to 13 335 movements. 25 068 tons of MTOW represent annual increase by 17,2 %.

Significant growth was driven by increased of charter traffic and passengers on holiday routes. In total, following 19 charter destinations were operated from Košice: Tirana (Albania), Burgas (Bulgaria), Varna (Bulgaria), Podgorica (Montenegro), Rijeka (Croatia), Hurgada (Egypt), Marsa Alam (Egypt), Thessaloniki (Greece), Corfu (Greece), Patras (Greece), Rodos (Greece), Larcaka (Cyprus), Heraklion (Greece), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Barcelona (Spain), Lamezia Terme (Italy), Olbia (Italy), Monastir (Tunis), Antalya (Turkey).

Even after end of charter/summer season it is possible continue to travel and discover more than 500 destinations directly from Košice with just one transfer.
