Ryanair

Ryanair, the largest European airline, as of today flies between Košice and Prague. It is Ryanair´s second route operated from Košice at the moment, in addition to the service Košice – London Stansted. 

The connection is operated twice a week on Monday and Friday, with departure from Prague at 12:35 and arrival in Košice at 13:55. Departures from Košice are planned for 14:20 and arrivals in Prague then at 15:35. The flights will be operated by Ryanair´s Boeing 737-800 with capacity 189 seats.

Michael Tmej, the CEO and chairman of the management board of Košice Airport said: “Today is a special day. Despite the very challenging times and the deepest crisis in the history of aviation we are very pleased to be able to welcome Ryanair, the new carrier, on the popular route Košice – Prague. We know about thousands of people travelling in this direction every month by train, bus or car. It is great that now they will have the opportunity to switch to Ryanair´s Boeings that are capable of cutting the travel time to an hour. In addition, with this lowcost route Košice and the whole Eastern Slovakia is now much closer and more attractive destination for Czech tourists.”

Kosice Region welcomes Ryanair on the route Prague Kosice. In Czech Republic live lot of citizens born in eastern Slovakia. Tourist from Czech Republic visits Kosice Region the most compared to other countries and come regularly. During last summer season we recorded 16% growth of tourists from Czech Republic, together were on the level of 40.000 and I am sure that this route will bring again more of them to our beautiful Kosice region.

Marcel Gibóda, chairman of the Board of Kosice Tourism, said:
We are glad for any new route from Kosice because it maintains business travellers but we are happy especially for this route to Prague because will bring for us more opportunities to attract and welcome more tourists from Prague and czech towns in surrounding.

After the measures taken to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 were lifted, Czech Airlines (to Prague), Austrian Airlines (to Vienna), Ryanair (to London Stansted) and Wizz Air (to London Luton) have already restarted their flight operations at Košice Airport. Restart of flights operated by Eurowings and LOT Polish Airlines is subject to a decision of a respective airlines. 

The rules for wearing the facemasks at all times onboard are valid for all airlines. Same rules apply for passengers inside the terminal building. Košice Airport recommends to check the detailed rules and recommendations of a particular airline before the flight on the airline´s website and also on the website of Košice Airport. 

Summer season of 2020 at Košice Airport was opened on 28th July with flight to Larnaca on southern Cyprus. Flights to Larnaca are operated by a Slovak airline Air Explore every Tuesday with their Boeing 737-800 with capacity of 189 seats from 28th July to 22nd September.
