AirExplore Košice

Košice Airport joins forces with Slovak air carrier AirExplore and new route Košice – Zadar is the result. The route will be operated every Saturday from 3rd July to 4th September with a Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats.

Croatia has been for many years a favourite holiday country for Slovaks and for those from the Eastern Slovakia it is now closer than ever before. Zadar itself lies on the East Adriatic coast and it offers many opportunities for relax already in its close neighbourhood. At the same time it can serve well as a central point for trips to the wider region of Dalmatia for those travellers who prefer to spend their holiday in a more active way.

The airplane of AirExplore will depart from Košice to Zadar every Saturday at 10:15. The flight itself will take only an hour and 30 minutes. The travellers will be able to have their morning coffee in the comfort of their home and they can enjoy a late lunch already on the wonderful Adriatic beach.

Return flight from Zadar will depart at 12:45 so the aircraft will land in Košice at 14:15. The schedule is especially very comfortable for families with children, as no early waking up nor staying up late is necessary. In comparison with a tiring (at least) 9-hour car journey it is a much safer alternative with massive savings on time and energy and without risk of complications at the borders.

Fares start from 69 EUR one-way, incl. all charges, cabin baggage (up to 8 kg) and a checked-in baggage (up to 25 kg). Also flexible tickets from 99 EUR are available which enable change of flight date up to 24 hours prior to departure completely free of charge. Tickets are now on sale at www.airexplore.sk

Martin Štulajter, chief executive officer of AirExplore: „Number of Slovaks flying to Croatia for their summer holiday has been growing every year. Based on last year´s experience with the operation of direct connection Bratislava – Split we would like to make flying to Croatia possible this summer also for the people from Eastern Slovakia. Thanks to the support from Košice Airport, the travelers can enjoy flights from Košice to Zadar during the holiday months of July and August plus also in the beginning of September. Many people want to save both time and money in this way, as the flight takes only slightly longer than an hour.”

Michael Tmej, chief executive officer and chairman of the management board of Košice Airport: „We are thrilled we found an agreement with AirExplore on launching a seasonal scheduled route Košice – Zadar, as the demand for such a route has been very strong for many years. We invite all Adriatic lovers from our wide catchment area to fly on their holiday this year in a safe and comfortable way from their home airport – Košice Airport.“

In the Slovak traffic lights system Croatia is on the green list, so no quarantine is necessary for those vaccinated against Covid-19 and other groups, in line with valid measures. More information can be found at https://korona.gov.sk/cestovatelsky-semafor/. Similar rules apply for Slovak citizens when entering Croatia. Details are available at www.croatia.hr. All safety measures including wearing a face mask for the whole duration of flight, keeping the distance and hygiene rules are still in place. Same measures apply for people in the premises of the terminal at Košice Airport.
