After the start of the summer holiday season at Košice Airport, with the first flight to Hurghada, Egypt on May 3rd, charter flights are gradually gathering momentum in the first week of June. After Egypt, more destinations are being gradually added, such as Larnaca in Cyprus, Monastir in Tunisia, and the greek islands of Crete and Rhodes, traditionally accompanied by the highly popular Antalya in Turkey.

The CEO of Košice Airport, Thomas Dworschak, stated:

"In total, over 600 charter flights are planned for this summer season, representing a year-on-year increase of 19 %. Compared to the pre-COVID year of 2019, the planned number of flights is only 4 % lower. We are looking forward to a very busy season and invite all holidaymakers from eastern Slovakia not to hesitate in booking their vacations because, according to our information, many dates are already sold out."

Travel agencies offer ten destinations in eight countries for summer tours departing from Košice: Antalya in Turkey, Burgas in Bulgaria, Heraklion and Rhodes in Greece, Brač in Croatia, Hurghada and Marsa Matruh in Egypt, Monastir in Tunisia, Larnaca in Cyprus, and Lamezia Terme in Italy. The new additions, which were previously unavailable from Košice, are the Croatian island of Brač and the Egyptian resort of Marsa Matruh.

Additional practical information was provided by a board member and Deputy Executive Director for Operations, Štefan Fedák:

"We have thoroughly prepared for the busy season. We have strengthened our staff capacities in several departments, including passenger services, security screening, and the handling team. We are looking forward to our passengers and would like to remind them to check the validity of their travel documents and arrive at the airport with sufficient time, ideally two hours before the scheduled departure time. This way, they can start enjoying their vacation right at the airport."

In addition to summer charter flights, our regular flights to seven destinations continue as part of the summer flight schedule:

• LOT Polish Airlines operates 6 flights per week to Warsaw and further within their wide network of destinations in Europe, the USA, Canada, Asia, and Africa.
• Austrian Airlines operates 11 flights per week to Vienna and further within their wide network of destinations in Europe, the USA, Canada, and Caribbean.
• Ryanair operates flights to the following destinations: London Stansted (5 flights per week), Prague (4 flights per week), Liverpool (2 flights per week), Dublin (2 flights per week).
• Wizz Air operates flights to London Luton (5 flights per week).
