Košice International Airport is the second largest airport in Slovakia in terms of passenger numbers and scheduled flights. It is located in the city district of Barca, approximately 6 kilometers south of the center of Košice, at an elevation of 230 meters above sea level. The airport covers an area of 3.5 km², with the terminal occupying 4,456 m², of which more than 3,500 m² is allocated to passenger services. The airport has a capacity of 1,000 passengers per hour. The largest aircraft capable of landing at the airport are the Boeing 767 and the Airbus A300.

Košice International Airport was opened in 1955 and has been in civil operation since 2004. The company Letisko Košice – Airport Košice, a.s. was established in 2004 under the Airport Companies Act No. 136/2004 Z.z. Since 2006, the ownership has been divided between Vienna International Airport with 66% and the Slovak Republic, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Construction, and Regional Development, with 34%. The company is managed by a Board of Directors, with Thomas Dworschak serving as both Chairman and CEO.

Currently, 9 regular routes are operated to destinations: Prague, Warsaw, Zürich, Vienna, London-Luton, London-Stansted, Liverpool, Dublin, and Zadar. In addition to scheduled flights, Košice International Airport also handles charter flights and provides services for private and cargo aviation.
