Sustainability Commitment

Responsible airport operations – from Košice to the world, today and for the future.

Letisko Košice – Airport Košice, a.s. recognises its responsibility as the operator of an international airport towards the environment, its employees, passengers, business partners and the region.

We see sustainability as an integral part of responsible airport management. In developing our operations, we therefore consider environmental and social impacts, safety, infrastructure resilience and the long-term needs of our stakeholders.

We are committed to

Climate responsibility.

Measure annually and systematically manage CO₂ emissions falling within Scope 1 and Scope 2 under the GHG Protocol. Our long-term target is to achieve Net Zero CO₂ by 2040 for direct emissions from sources under our operational control and indirect emissions from purchased energy. We pursue this target through energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy and the electrification of airport equipment and vehicles, in line with our Net Zero Road Map.

Environmental protection and resource efficiency.

Seek to prevent pollution, use energy, water and materials responsibly, reduce waste and the environmental impacts of our operations, including noise and air quality, and take biodiversity protection into account wherever it may be affected by our activities.

Sustainable and resilient infrastructure.

Give appropriate consideration to solution life cycles, climate-related risks, operational resilience and opportunities to use innovative and low-emission technologies in our investments, maintenance and procurement.

People and community.

Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace, employee development, accessible and high-quality passenger services, and open dialogue with local and regional partners.

Collaboration across the value chain.

Within our sphere of influence, work with airlines, tenants, suppliers, public authorities and other partners to support reductions in indirect emissions (Scope 3) and other impacts across the value chain.

Responsible governance and transparency.

Apply the principles of ethical and responsible governance, act in accordance with legal and internal requirements, assign clear responsibilities, regularly assess progress against defined objectives, and communicate our priorities, actions and progress appropriately and transparently.
