In the period of January to June of this year, a total of 247,803 passengers passed through the gates of Košice Airport. This represents a year-on-year increase of up to 29%, and compared to the pre-COVID year of 2019, it signifies a growth of 13%. Over 207,000 passengers utilized regular routes to one of the seven destinations (Dublin, Liverpool, London Luton, London Stansted, Prague, Warsaw, Vienna). Additionally, nearly 39,000 passengers flew to or from Košice on charter flights, while the remaining almost two thousand passengers utilized general aviation flights.
The CEO of Košice Airport, Thomas Dworschak, stated:
"Our statistics for the first six months confirm the growing demand for air travel. On average, the volume of civil air transport in Europe has not yet reached the level of 2019. Therefore, we are very grateful for the trust of our passengers, as we have seen a remarkable increase of 13% in Košice compared to the year 2019."
In the first half of the year, the strongest month was June, with 71,144 passengers served. It was in June that the summer holiday season kicked off in full swing. Travel agencies offer ten destinations in eight countries for trips departing from Košice. These destinations include Antalya (Turkey), Burgas (Bulgaria), Heraklion and Rhodes (Greece), Brač (Croatia), Hurghada and Marsa Matruh (Egypt), Monastir (Tunisia), Larnaca (Cyprus), and Lamezia Terme (Italy).
