KOŠICE – Košice Airport can celebrate the second best result in its history already 11 days before the end of the year. On Friday, December 20th, the airport welcomed the jubilee 550-thousandth passenger. Only for the third time in its history, Košice Airport has managed to get over the 500,000 line. Last year, 542,026 passengers passed through the gates of our airport.

This year, the jubilee 550 thousandth passenger was Erika Švagrovská, who departed from Košice on a regular Austrian Airlines flight to Zurich with a transfer in Vienna. As a prize, she received from Austrian Airlines 2 return tickets from Kosice to any destination within Europe straight on their board.  The whole day of December 20th 2019 at Košice Airport was held in a festive spirit. As a part of the popular pre-Christmas tradition at our airport, all the passengers were welcomed by Santa Claus and his lady helpers and received some sweet gifts.

Michael Tmej, Executive Director and Chairman of the Management Board of Košice Airport said: “Although so far we do not know the exact number of passengers handled this year, we can already say that it has been a very good year, even the second best in the whole history of our airport. We would like to thank all passengers who prefer to depart from Kosice Airport to more than 300 destinations in the world. Only thanks to you we are able to increase the number of destinations reachable from Košice.”

From April 1, 2020, Ryanair is returning to Kosice and it will operate flights to London Airport Stansted three times a week.
